According to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the near future citizens of the Republic of Cyprus will have the opportunity to apply for long-term tourist visas to Russia.

Starting from November 21, 2017, Russian diplomatic missions and consular departments will issue single-entry tourist visas valid for up to 90 days to citizens of the Republic of Cyprus. To apply for a visa, a tourist confirmation from the host organization included in the federal register of tour operators will be required.

✅ Registration at the place of stay or residence of foreign citizens who arrived for temporary stay (temporary or permanent residence) is carried out within 1 day from the date of their arrival at the place of stay or residence providing the submission of the documents by the receiving party or directly by foreign citizens in the relevant territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia;

Russia has introduced the border regime in areas next to the border with Belarus on February 7.

The border regime has been introduced in Russia's three oblasts – Pskov, Smolensk and Bryansk.

There used to be no border zones at Belarus-Russia border before.

The innovation will not affect Belarusian citizens and will only apply to foreigners, the Russian border service assured.

Certificates confirming knowledge of the Russian language, history and Russian legislation

In accordance with the Federal Law of the Russian Federation as of April 20, 2014 N 74-FZ "On Amending the Federal Law "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation" starting from January, 1, 2015, foreign citizens must confirm their knowledge of the Russian language, knowledge of the history of Russia and the laws of the Russian Federation, for:

•work permit;

•patent;

•temporary residence permit;

•permanent residence permit.

Foreign citizens-Highly Qualified specialists are not obliged to confirm the knowledge of the Russian language, history and Russian legislation work permit process.

The confirmation of the knowledge of the Russian language, history and the Russian legislationon applying for a temporary residence permit or permanent residence permit is not obliged for the following categories of citizens:

•incapable foreign citizens;

•foreign citizens under 18 years;

•foreign citizens - men aged 65 and women aged 60 years;

•foreign citizens - the participants of the State program on assistance the voluntary resettlement of the Russian compatriots living abroad and members of their families moving together in Russia;

•foreign citizens - Highly Qualified specialists and their family members on applying for a residence permit;

•foreign students of the Russian professional institutions and universities with state-accredited basic educational programs.

To confirm the level of knowledge of the Russian language, history and the Russian legislation a foreign citizen can within the following two ways:

- by obtaining the appropriate certificate;

- by presenting the original diploma on higher or secondary education, issued by educational institution on the territory of USSR before September 01, 1991 or on the territory of Russia after September 01, 1991.
